If I was in charge - things would be different!

1. I would reinstate the draft for men and women.  Kids working towards a college degree are exempt. 

2. Kids would go through a boot camp that teaches them how to eat, what supplements to take, and plenty of exercise

3. At the end of regular boot camp - kids could go into the regular military or one of the other services such as the reserves, coast guard, border patrol, etc - where it is more service rather than military. 

4. Kids service to their country would be at least 2 years - maybe as long as four years. 

5. At the end of their service - the government decides if a person attends college or vocational school.  There would be ways for kids to have their college or schooling paid for - perhaps by serving four regular years and then serving in the reserves while in school.

Values, respect, morals. ethics, teamwork, and country - would be drilled into the kids, day in and day out. 

Not all - but a lot of our young generation has gotten so fat, dumb, and stupid - if we want to save this country and this world - we need something to bring these kids back to reality. 

Its also a way to separate the wheat from the chaff.  If a young person screwed up in school - here is a second chance. 

Note that good kids will have absolutely no problem with this.  It is the kids that need it that will be changed.  It is the truly rotten that will receive no benefit at all. 

Sound familiar?  Maybe I am just a bit old fashioned.  But it still sounds like the best plan to me.
