Why This Health Care Reform Solves Nothing

Why This Health Care Reform Solves Nothing

Leave it to our “health experts” and government to waste billions and trillions more $$$ and not solve anything.

The reason that Americans health has deteriorated so much is because of diet and nutrition.

The reason that Americans have to spend so much on health care is because of bad diet and nutrition.

Note that the root cause is diet and nutrition.

Note that the root cause is NOT who pays for it.

I guarantee you that if we outlawed high glycemic foods tomorrow – and everyone followed this advice and did not buy them on the black market or recreate them at home - within 6 to 12 months health care spending would plummet 50 to 80 PERCENT!

What if total health care spending dropped 50 to 80 percent?  Would that be true reform?

Not to mention productivity would soar, people would be much happier, have more energy, more time to do what they want, and more money in their pocket.

Cancer, heart disease, heart attack, strokes, cataracts, diseases of your organs, allergies, asthma, sleep apnea, chronic bronchitis, ADD and ADHD would be almost nonexistent.  Granted everyone has to die of something, sometime.

But kids graduating high school with senior citizens diseases – is crazy.  And sometimes it seems that I am the only person in the world that thinks it is crazy and we need to do something about it.

Is the root problem that Americans spend so much on health care OR who pays for it?

Don’t be deceived into thinking that someone else will be paying for your health care.  That is naïve.  Trust me – everyone will pay – and everyone will suffer.

The root cause is NOT who pays for it or how it is paid for.

So a solution that changes who pays for it or how it is paid for – SOLVES NOTHING!

What if we knew smoking had horrible consequences and instead of telling people to stop smoking – the government went in and took over all the cigarette manufacturers so that we had single payer for cigarettes?

What if we knew that drinking large quantities of alcohol had horrible consequences and instead of telling people to stop drinking – the government went in and took over all the alcohol manufacturers so that we had single payer for alcohol?

What if we knew that taking illicit drugs had horrible consequences and instead of telling people to stop taking drugs – the government went in and took over all the drug suppliers so that we had single payer for illicit drugs?

Doesn’t make any sense – does it?  So why should the government go in and take over all the health care?

What if we knew that gambling had horrible consequences and instead of telling people to stop gambling – the government went in and took over all the gambling and called it state lotteries?

Whoops!  Never mind.  I should have stopped while I was ahead.

So why go in and take over health care when the problem is that people need to stop eating high glycemic foods?

Once again I expect that our “health experts” will spend trillions of $$$ - and not solve anything.  You think they would have connected the dots … and learned something by now.

The only question now is – is it stupidity, greed, or power they are really after?

    This is so true.

The final frontier is not outer space, rather it is the place between our ears. If we can learn self control, self regulation and develop healthy lifestyles, we would not only have better health, we would have more resources to enjoy our lives.

For instance a drug gets banned because a few people get sick and die. In some cases, like the recent black labeling of EPO, it turns out one of the doctors on the committee to black label it is also on a team trying to release a competing drug. If it is good or bad is not the point here. Basically it has helped hundreds of thousands with only a few people, relatively speaking, having an adverse reaction or death.

Now, look at the drugs that go unchallenged that we know are harming if not killing.

The mercury in our mouth debate for one,
Statins that do not even help decrease heart attack rates on those over 65 according to studies and others.

Even worse, we as a society allow the production of tobacco.

Yes, health care reform should start with each of us.

    Wow, Keith;

    I completely agree.

Unfortunately, in this country, as in others, people value their freedom to eat junk food, live a sedentary lifestyle, and abuse drugs and alcohol.

We guard it jealously, and don't you dare try to take it away. You will be taking your life into your own hands!

The idea that our actions have consequences is foreign. Everything, including the appalling state of our health, is someone else's fault and by the way, someone else should pay for it all too.

We all have God-given free will to make the choices we wish, and also to bear the consequences for these decisions.

As we have that freedom, well, we will hang on to it dearly. And I appreciate that I have the same freedom that others do and would not want someone to take that freedom away from me either.

However, we reap what we sow, and boy are we reaping right now.

Unfortunately, we will never see the turn around that you suggest. But you and I can do our part to take care of our health, one at a time, since after all, we can only answer for our own actions, and cannot dictate the actions of others. Making it a matter of law would only force it all underground.

Education will help for those that are willing to listen and learn. Personal experience is a tough teacher.

Keep up your great information and education!

    With you in good health,
    Laura
