I have personally done a literature review on "vitamin e & gene expression", i have come to noticed that most studies I have so far dealt with alpha-tocoperol, other isoforms and tocotrienols are rarely touched. if the author is correct about those use of mostly d,l-alpha-tocopherol, the synthetic form of vitamin e in those studies investigated, it is irrespsonsible, unhuman. it is analogous to question the usage of money by looking into the results of using the forgery note.

i will be doing my Msc research project sometime next year, and am now motivated to look into the direction of the anti-atherosclerosis effects of tocotrienols in comparison to those of tocopherols.

This article has many severe grammar issues. If you insist on publishing articles via the Internet, newspaper, magazine, etc., the least you could do is correct your grammar and spelling errors. The information was decent. I am putting together an informational movie that addresses the concern of malnutrition worldwide, and this article has provided me with a few facts featuring Europe. I do, however, recommend that you revise your writings before publishing them to the public. I am fifteen years old and I can find at least ten grammar errors. You are, I assume, much older than I and have probably completed your schooling; therefore, you should have been able to edit your article past the level of a third-grader. (No offense to those under ten years.)
Thank you,
Katarina

Comment on Dr. Gabriel Cousens reveals method for reversing diabetes with raw living foods

We've known what causes and how to reverse diabetes for decades. Dr Atkins, Dr. Bernstein and others showed us how to do it. I did it and so have millions of other people.

So you don't need "raw living foods" or to pay for a 21 day rejuvenation clinic.

Several things really angered me about this ad for Dr Cousens.

1. That Dr Cousens figured out a cure for diabetes - when we've known it for decades

2. He is doing something different. He is doing the same thing - just rebranding it.

3. Using the word "cure". You can reverse it as long as the people follow the plan. But are you ever really cured? Doubt it. For example, is an alcoholic ever really cured of their addiction? Is a smoker or drug user ever really cured of their addiction? Or do they fight it for the rest of their lives? Same with diabetics and eating.

I would expect Dr Cousens to have some slick sales pitch why he is different and new. I would expect Dr Cousens program to work as well as the other programs.

If you've tried low carbing and were not able to stick with it and think that some new twist will help you succeed - by all means - go for it.

My point is - you don't have to pay for some - who knows how expensive - 21 day program. And you don't need "raw living foods". But if you need someone to kick you in the butt for 21 days - either get married - or attend his program.

Nutrisystems has a diabetes program where they send you all the food. Its like $400 per month

http://www.nutrisystem.com/jsps_hmr/catalog/women/diabetes.jsp

http://www.nutrisystem.com/jsps_hmr/catalog/men/diabetes.jsp?categoryId=379

The nutrisystem program has some structure to it.

If this Dr Cousens program costs less than $400 including meals and expenses - then give it a try. Otherwise - you might want to try the nutrisystem first.

Bottom line is - I really don't care what low carb / low glycemic diet or plan you follow. I do want you to follow one - anyone. I do want you to pay as little as possible and only pay for what you need.

It might be easier to just get a spouse and tell them - no matter how much I beg you / threaten you / bribe you - don't let me eat ANY high glycemic foods.

But the diet boot camp might be a lot kinder and gentler than a spouse.

Sorry Keith, I have to disagree on this one.
Vitamin D is more of a hormone than a vitamin. It has to be thought of differently to vitamin supplementation.
I personally take no vitamins as my researched dietary intake of food covers all my needs.
I supplement 10,000 iu of vitamin D daily, and my 25(OH)D level is 65.3 ng/ml on a recent blood test. I may reduce in the summer, depending on if we get one!
We are all different, the only way to check your D level is to have a blood test and supplement accordingly with D3 gel caps.

Several ways to go with a research report like this.

First - glad someone is looking into this. Second - I don't think the researchers understand diets and the types of foods people eat very well.

Dr Atkins said that his diet seemed to only work for 80% of the people that tried it. Not sure if the 20% failure rate was because of genetics or because the people did not follow the diet.

We know that 20% of people addicted to alcohol, drugs, cigarettes never kick the habit. Perhaps it is the same in a low carb diet. 20% are addicted to bad foods and can not stop eating the bad stuff? If you are eating the Atkins diet AND still eating all the bad stuff - I can understand why the Atkins diet does not work (because you are NOT doing the Atkins diet).

But I digress once again ...

If you click on that graph above - you see what they define as high fat and low carbs.

The percentage of fat runs along the top and ranges from 21 to 47 percent fat.

The percentage of carbs runs along the bottom and ranges from 27 to 56 percent.

The problem is - what types of fats and what types of carbs are these people eating?

For example - I think that eating natural fats - fish oil and saturated fats - are very different than the fats found in the "typical western diet" - trans fats, fats in processed vegetable oils, corn oils, and other processed fats.

Same with the carbohydrates.

Are the people eating whole and natural low glycemic carbohydrates - most salads, mushrooms, asparagus, squash, etc?

OR are the people eating unnatural, processed, carbohydrates like bread, rice, pasta, etc? Or are they eating high starch foods?

I agree that people need to find what diet is best for them. I don't think that they need a genetics test. They can simply think about what foods they really enjoy - and then do tests on themselves to see how foods effect them.

Review what Cedric just went through. Everyone needs to do that. Listen to your body.

I found that I do best on zero carbs, low calcium, lots of fish oil.

I can understand where women may be more comfortable with a low glycemic version of the Mediterranean diet, Good, natural fats and protein are very important for women. Go ask that beauty doctor - Dr Perricone. Number one thing that women can do to improve their beauty is eat more good protein and natural fats.

Any low glycemic diet - whether it is zero carbs or allows carbs - is better than any high glycemic diet.
